Online Casino Bonuses UK

A casino bonus is only as good as its terms. This guide explains the main bonus types you will see in the UK, how wagering requirements work, and the small print that separates a genuinely useful offer from one that looks great and delivers little. Read it before you opt in to anything.

Bonus types

The offers you will see

Welcome / match bonus

The casino matches a percentage of your deposit with bonus funds, often across the first few deposits. The headline is a maximum, not a guarantee.

Free spins

Set spins on specific slots. Winnings are usually paid as bonus funds with their own wagering. More on free spins.

No deposit bonus

A small bonus without funding your account — rare, heavily restricted and quick to disappear. No deposit guide.

Cashback

A percentage of net losses returned over a period. Often lower wagering than a match bonus, but check the cap and timeframe.

Reload & weekly offers

Smaller ongoing promotions for existing players. Some need a promo code entered in the cashier.

Loyalty / VIP

Points, tiers and perks for regular play. Useful only if you were going to play anyway — never play more to "earn" rewards.

The fine print

How wagering requirements work

Wagering (also called playthrough) is the number of times you must bet a bonus before any winnings from it can be withdrawn. If you claim a £100 bonus with a x35 requirement, you need to place £3,500 of qualifying bets first. Higher multipliers mean it is harder to walk away with anything.

Three other terms matter just as much:

  • Max bet while bonus is active — often £5 or less. Breaking it can void the bonus and winnings.
  • Game weighting — slots usually count 100% toward wagering, while table games may count 10% or not at all.
  • Time limit — bonuses commonly expire in 7–30 days. If you do not complete wagering in time, the bonus and winnings are removed.

A bigger bonus is not automatically a better one. Always compare the wagering, max bet and time limit, not just the headline figure. Bonuses can be changed or withdrawn at any time.

FAQ

Casino bonus questions

It is how many times you must bet a bonus before you can withdraw winnings from it. A x35 requirement on a £100 bonus means £3,500 of qualifying bets. Lower is better.

It depends on the terms. Low wagering, fair max-bet limits and a reasonable time window can add value; a huge bonus with very high wagering may be worth skipping. Never deposit more than you planned just to claim one.

Usually not. Bonus funds and their winnings are normally locked until wagering is complete, and a max-cashout cap may apply. Always read the terms before opting in.
